Looking forward to a creative new year

In 2013, I graduated Eastern Connecticut State University with a degree in Visual Arts (digital art & design). During my time at college, I was constantly being given imaginative and challenging design problems to solve, for clients, professors and as classwork. In the months since my graduation,I have been staying active in my designing, but in 2015 I look to increase that production further.

Buffalo Sabres SketchLast year, I was able to expand my portfolio further by joining 99designs.com, a very versatile and valuable community for designers such as myself. The beauty (and in some ways, the curse) of graphic design and designing as a whole is that there is always a need for it. No matter how big or small, there will be a need for graphics to serve as informational markers, to accentuate a message or to serve as packaging, or other practical purposes.

My most recent logo design was late last year when I designed the Christmas logo for 2014. As always, it was a Christmas 2014 Official Logogreat opportunity to flex my creative muscle and construct something through digital and hand-drawn means that made a sizeable impact on a number of people. The Christmas logo to me is more than a logo. It is a representation of the Christmas season, the giving nature of the season and the important ties to family and friends that are traditionally expounded upon during the holidays.

Similarly, I’m hoping to expound on past and future projects for 2015 and am beginning that important process by revising my resume and digital portfolio, two critical pieces of my graphic identity moving forward. This is an identity I wish to strengthen, now more than ever, in 2015 by continued efforts online and abroad to take on as many design challenges as possible.

I know that my 2015 will be packed with exciting and challenging new projects all year long. For those reading this blog, designers or not, I wish you the best in your own personal endeavors for the new year. Remember, it’s never too late to forge your own path.
